Shoppers at Mostyn Champneys Retail Park in Llandudno are being asked to note a new 3-hour free limited time parking scheme that is being introduced on the Park from July 1 2011.
From that date, all vehicles that enter and leave the Park will have their number plates photographed by special cameras, and the owner of any vehicle exceeding the 3-hour time limited will be presented with an excess charge of £80.
Colin Gilligan, Centre Manager of Mostyn Champneys Retail Park, explains the background behind the new scheme: “Although we have recognised for some time that we are probably the most attractive parking location in the town – conveniently located and entirely free – we have also become aware of the growing number of non-shoppers who leave their vehicles for long periods, and at busy times deprive our genuine shoppers of a legitimate parking space.
“We believe that the new 3-hour limit is a fair scheme that more than caters for the average time shoppers are likely to spend on the Park, will guarantee available parking at all times and still represents the best parking facility in the town.”
Prominent signs will be displayed to make motorists aware of the new scheme.
Colin Gilligan adds: “We want our genuine shoppers to enjoy the 3-hour parking, and at the same time make all other motorists fully aware of their responsibilities. The intention is not to catch people out or use this as a revenue raising scheme.”
